HONORING AMERICA’S HEROES
On Thursday July 8th we and our good friends and neighbors from Rockaway turned out to honor the Wounded Warriors in a parade. Pat Concannon, while driving Engine 343, blew the air horn, to salute our members, who were cheering the Wounded Warriors, as they passed by the Firehouse. Then on Friday and Saturday, the Rockaway Greybeards assisted by the F.D.N.Y. Fire Family Transport Foundation and Rockaway Point Yacht Club and members from our Department provided these courageous soldiers with scuba diving, water skiing, fishing, sailing and other water related activities. On Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, we prayed with our heroes at Mass celebrated by Father Brian Carney from St. Francis de Sales Parish in Belle Harbor in a very inspirational liturgy.
It was a great weekend, as we were all inspired by the Wounded Warriors courage and can do spirit. God bless them.

THE JOHNNY CAKES OUT PLAY THE BEST IN BREEZY
Jim O’Meara, at the post game press conference held on the Sugar Bowl Deck stated that when your opponent out hits you, out pitches you and fields better than you; you lose and that’s just what happened, as the Jonny Cakes soundly defeated us 10 to 5. Several of the team’s players told Big Jack, off the record of course, that the team’s poor 1 & 3 start is due in large part to Don Reilly’s hold out and the team’s fans are calling the FAN demanding that the God Father Ed Wolfe, lift the teams salary cap, so that the team can negotiate a new contract with Reilly, before Sunday’s crucial 9:30 AM game against the always tough Olive Pits.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIANNA
We all wish Debbie and Bob Johnston’s charming daughter Brianna a very happy birthday on Sunday July 18.
